Yet, they are delicious on their own, and this recipe proves it. Don’t miss out on the satisfying crunch these crispy chickpeas are sure to provide!

Why I Love this Recipe

  • Easy prep – Gone are the days of removing the skin from chickpeas. Just toss all the ingredients into a bowl and you’re set!
  • Customizable – Use any spices you’d like

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas – I use canned for quick prep and easier clean up, but you could start with dry chickpeas and cook them thoroughly first.
  • Taco Seasoning – Try my homemade taco seasoning recipe!
  • Olive Oil – Any of your favorite oils work.

How to Make Crunchy Baked Chickpeas

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prep the Chickpeas

Rinse and drain a can of chickpeas and pat dry with a towel.  You do not have to take the skins off the chickpeas. I repeat YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE SKINS OFF OF THE CHICKPEAS… save yourself the hassle!

Mix and Coat

Place the dried chickpeas into a large mixing bowl. Add the olive oil and your desired spices, and mix until they are evenly coated, as shown below.

Time to Bake

Next, spread the coated chickpeas onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure there is a good amount of space between the chickpeas so that all sides can get nice and crispy. It should look like the picture below.

Place the chickpeas in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Check every 15 minutes or so to mix and ensure the chickpeas are not burning.

Remove them from the oven and allow to cool about 10 minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Optional: Air Fryer Directions

Follow the same prep steps and toss these into the air fryer instead of the oven! Air fry at 350 for 30-45 minutes checking and mixing the chickpeas every 10-15 minutes

How to Store Crunchy Baked Chickpeas

  • Room Temp: Serve them right away or store them at room temperature uncovered for 3-5 days.
