Why You’ll Love this Healthy Snack Recipe
- Just 2 ingredients – These air fryer apple chips are made with only two simple ingredients: apples and cinnamon, that’s it! And if you don’t like cinnamon, you can easily omit it, and the apples will be just as delicious.
- Customizable – Make this delicious snack your own! Instead of cinnamon, you can change up this apple chips recipe with pumpkin pie spice, or any other variety of spices you like.

Ingredients
- Fresh apples – Granny Smith Apples are my favorite apples for this recipe, but you can use Honeycrisp or any other variety of apple that you like. I’ve made these crunchy chips with pink lady apples and honeycrisp apples as well – both are delicious!
- Ground cinnamon – I think apples and cinnamon is the best combo ever, but if you don’t like cinnamon, try swapping with pumpkin pie spice or omitting the spices altogether.
Helpful Equipment
In addition to measuring cups and spoons, the following equipment is helpful for this air fryer apple chips recipe:
- Air Fryer – All air fryers are different, so make sure to check the apples often during the cook time to ensure they don’t burn.
- Mandolin – I prefer the mandolin to keep the sizes (and therefore the cooking times) uniform, but if you don’t have a mandolin, you can use a very sharp knife to cut the apple slices.

How to Make Apple Chips in the Air Fryer
This is a detailed step-by-step guide on how to make this recipe including photographs. For the quick version, skip ahead to the recipe card below!
Start by washing the apples. You can peel the apples but you do not have to – this is personal preference. Next, use a mandolin or a very sharp knife to cut the apples into very thin slices.
Place the slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes. Toss the apple slices, then air fry again at 325F for another 8-10 minutes or until the apples are crispy and golden brown but not burnt. Air fryer brands can vary, so make sure to check the apples every so often during the second cooking time. If you find that your apples are burning quickly, use a lower temperature.
Remove the apple chips from the air fryer and let cool on a metal rack 1-2 minutes before eating (and up to 1 hour before storing). Sprinkle the cinnamon over top.
That’s it! Serve and enjoy!
Variations
- For a sweeter apple chip: Toss the apple slices in 1/2 tsp granulated sugar before air frying.
- Mix up the spice: Add a touch of apple pie spice instead of cinnamon.
How to Store Crispy Apple Chips
- Room Temp: Store loosely covered at room temperature for up to 1-2 weeks! I have found that storing these in an airtight container makes them get a bit soft, so make sure to vent any container they are stored in and wait until they are fully cooled to store.

More Tips
- Not Vegan? Use these apple chips to dip in traditional caramel sauce or even marshmallow fluff!
- Gluten-Free? These apple chips are naturally gluten-free!
- Oil-Free? No added oils are used in this recipe, making it a healthier option than some.
FAQ: Air Fryer Apple Chips
Yes! I think the sweeter varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp make the best apple chips, but any kind will work.
These air fried apple chips will last 1-2 weeks when stored at room temperature loosely covered. Air tight containers will trap moisture and cause them to spoil quicker.
These apple chips will reach their full crispiness after they have completely cooled. If they still aren’t crispy, lower the temperature on the air fryer and air fry in loosely covered. Airtight containers will trap moisture and cause them to spoil quickly.
